Once you’ve picked out your flooring material and scheduled a date for New Age Flooring & Remodeling to complete your installation, it’s time for you to prepare your home for the installation crew. While all the actual flooring installation will be completed by qualified professionals, there are a few things you can do to make sure the installation process flows smoothly.
Timing With Other Remodeling
If flooring installation is the only change that you’re making to your home at this point, then your preparation list will be shorter. But if, like many other homeowners, you’ve chosen to complete other remodeling tasks at the same time, these will need to be completed first, before your flooring installation can be done. After all, you don’t want to find a bright splotch of paint on your fresh new floors right after having them installed!
Before flooring installation can be completed, you should also ask your installation crew about how much of a height change there will be with your new flooring. While this change is not always needed, if you’re changing to a much thicker flooring type, you may need to have door adjustments completed as well so your doors don’t get stuck or grind against your higher floor.
Prepare the Area
Once you have that out of the way, it’s time to start preparing the area where your flooring installation will take place. Your home is about to become a construction zone, so in addition to removing furniture, it’s important you move any delicate objects, like paintings, glassware, and wall decorations, to a safer place where they can’t be jarred or broken. Make sure your young children know not to enter the space and keep your pets in a safe area, so they won’t run in the way of the installation crew.
After that, you can sit back and relax until your flooring installation is complete.
